1. Scope
These terms govern the use of the Joppa desktop application, its command-line tools and the website getjoppa.com (together, the "Service"), and the purchase of Joppa Pro. They form a contract between you and Smoovify, SASU (simplified joint-stock company with a sole shareholder), registered office at 173 rue de Courcelles, 75017 Paris, France, SIRET 108 870 981 00017.
By downloading, installing or using Joppa, you accept these terms. If you use Joppa on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorised to accept them for it.
2. Free and Pro
Joppa is available in two editions:
- Free: free of charge, with no time limit, for up to 3 projects, 1 database service and 1 machine.
- Pro: a yearly subscription that removes these limits and can be activated on up to 3 machines at the same time. The current features and price are shown on the pricing page.
We may change the content of each edition over time. A change will never remove a paid feature during a subscription period you have already paid for.
3. Purchase and payment
Joppa Pro is sold through Polar (polar.sh ↗), which acts as reseller and merchant of record. Polar processes the payment, collects and remits VAT and other sales taxes, and issues your invoices. Its own terms of sale also apply to the payment.
The price is shown in euros, taxes included, before you confirm the order. Customers who subscribe during the launch offer keep its price (€29 per year) for as long as their subscription stays active without interruption. Once the payment is confirmed, you receive your licence key by email and can activate the app right away.
4. Renewal and cancellation
Joppa Pro renews automatically every year at the price in force for your subscription, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account ↗; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep Pro until then. After that, the app falls back to the Free edition. Your projects and data stay on your machine.
If we change the price of Pro, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before your next renewal, so you can cancel beforehand.
5. Right of withdrawal and refunds
If you are a consumer, you have 14 days from your purchase to withdraw from the contract, without giving a reason. To do so, send us a clear statement by email at hello@getjoppa.com with the email address used for the purchase. We refund the full amount through Polar, using the original payment method, within 14 days of your request. The licence is then revoked.
Business customers are not entitled to a statutory withdrawal right. For any billing issue, write to us and we will find a solution.
6. Licence to use the software
Smoovify grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Joppa, within the limits of your edition. A Pro licence belongs to the person or company who bought it and may be activated on up to 3 machines at the same time; you can free a machine from your account.
You may not:
- sell, rent, share or publish your licence key;
- bypass or tamper with the licence checks or the edition limits;
- decompile or reverse engineer the software, except where the law expressly allows it;
- redistribute Joppa or offer it as a hosted service to third parties.
7. Your responsibilities
Joppa is a development tool. It installs a local certificate authority, edits name resolution for .test domains and runs services on your machine. You remain responsible for your own computer, your projects, your code and your data, including keeping backups. Do not use Joppa to serve production traffic or to process data you are not allowed to process.
You agree not to misuse the website or its API, for example by trying to access other users' data or by sending automated requests in bulk.
8. Third-party software
Joppa lets you install and run third-party software (databases, language runtimes, container images, project templates). This software is provided by its own authors under its own licences, which you must respect. Smoovify does not guarantee it and is not responsible for it.
9. Updates and availability
We regularly release updates to fix bugs and add features. Pro subscribers receive all updates published during their subscription. Joppa runs locally, so it keeps working offline; the website, sign-in and licence checks may however be briefly unavailable, for example during maintenance. We do our best to limit interruptions but cannot guarantee continuous availability.
10. Warranty and liability
Joppa is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but we do not guarantee that it is free of errors or suited to every use. Smoovify is not liable for indirect damage such as loss of data, revenue or business, nor for damage resulting from misuse of the Service, from third-party software or from interruptions of service.
For business customers, our total liability is limited to the amount paid for Joppa in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits the legal guarantees and rights you have under applicable consumer law, in particular the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content.
11. Termination
You can stop using Joppa at any time. We may suspend or revoke a licence, after notice when possible, if you seriously breach these terms (for example by sharing your licence key or bypassing the licence checks). In that case, no refund is due for the current period, except as required by law.
12. Intellectual property
Joppa, its code, interface, name, logo and documentation are the property of Smoovify and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms do not transfer any of these rights to you, other than the licence described above. Your projects and code remain entirely yours.
13. Personal data
How we process personal data is described in our privacy policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. We will tell customers about significant changes by email at least 30 days before they apply; if you disagree, you can cancel your subscription before that date.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence.
In case of a dispute, please contact us first: most issues can be solved quickly by email. If we cannot reach an agreement, consumers may refer the matter to a consumer mediator free of charge, or to the competent courts. For business customers, the courts of Paris have exclusive jurisdiction.
